Context: Bookmarks in Calpendo are a useful way to organise views of resources, especially if you have a large number of them on your Calpendo.  Calpendo does include an area for editing and choosing which bookmarks to view to the left of your calendar, but sometimes you may want to have a more permanent link to a bookmark available in the menu bar for all users.

Suitable for: Admins who wish to make a change for all users on a site.

Objective: Learn how to edit the menus in order to add a submenu to link to a bookmark

Steps:

To begin with I would suggest taking a look at the page in our documentation on working with the bookmark manager.  Once your bookmarks are setup move onto the steps below.

  1. Go to the Admin Menu > Menu editor
  2. In the menu editor you will see a list of menus available for editing on the left.
  3. Select the menu you wish to edit.  As this will be a bookmark for resources I would recommend putting it under the Calendar menu section.  If you already have Calendar by location enabled this could be created as a submenu item under a general Calendar section.
    1. If you want to provide a link on a menu which is just available for admins select the Admin menu
    2. Otherwise select the User menu
  4. Once you have selected the menu you want to edit in the middle column you will see the menu structure.
  5. Click edit
  6. Click on the plus sign next to the Menu item where you wish to place your bookmark link or select the top level element such as Bookings or Projects
  7. Depending on what you selected you will either need to click on New item or New sub-item
  8. Change the type for this new item to "Custom Page"
  9. Put in a label which will be used in the menu
  10. Add a token which will be used for the URL.  This can be similar to the label but can not include spaces.
  11. For Custom Page Type select "Bookmark Page"
  12. Under Bookmark Definition, select the system bookmark you setup earlier
  13. To make this new menu item available for other menu bars click on copy for this menu item and then save the menu itself
  14. Edit the menu you wish to add this menu item to and then once you have opened the menu section you will you be using select paste in order to drop that menu item in.
